So I'm starting a political action committee or whatever the hell it's called. I'm not doing it for money (100% for sure going to lose time/money on this adventure) but I'm SICK and TIRED of the bullsh*t crime in spokane (the city I used to live in, and own my rental property in).
So I'm making a website (spokanesucks.com) which is not up yet. We're making videos and going to post them on the web. And then I have some creative "attention grabbers" to draw traffic to the site.
Our first videos is up on youtube:

Please give feedback. It's our first, so we know we'll need to improve/work on things. Any feedback/time you guys help out will be greatly appreciated. |

100% was done by ourselves
From the animations, to video, to voices, to images, to "creating" the site (used a template though...not THAT awesome, lol) |

...In hindsight, of course, seeking guidance on such matters from a poker website was probably a dumb idea. |
Heh, now they all think your dumb just because you ask around on the forums where many of the posters are quite tech savvy and helpful
Next time use bit.ly or tinyurl to make it harder for people to find you through google if they search for links.
I like what you did, and I'm glad you got so much attention for it too. I hope it will influence the city in lowering crime.
Would you like me to post some of those flyers here in Finland too?
(Btw I always thought Spokane was pronounced similarly to a powerful drug, had no idea it was pronounced the way it is)

The fact that so many people focused on the "keeping a website a secret" angle was sort of disappointing. But I never thought the site/stunt would draw 1/100th the amount of attention it did. So while the stunt would never go down as a "flawless victory"...I accomplished a lot more then I ever thought I would.
A for effort? ;) lol |

Dunno, I mean when the site looks anonymous and no political or other affiliations are put on the flyer I think people will be very curious about who and why someone makes the effort. So when the reporters note you were trying to hide your identity and find out you don't live in Spokane anymore I'm sure people are interested. IMO it just makes the story better
Nice to see that the reporters do some minor detective work for their stories. I mean journalism seems to be slowly become a dead art form so its nice to read that kind of local story with interviews from local people
And as I said I thought you did a really nice thing to get people to focus on the amount of crime. Personally I'd be more interested in the source of the crime and not just on increasing the amount of police, but yeah nice job and definitely A for effort
BTW, does anyone know if there has been any notable increase of traffic to the site now that it was linked to the story? |
